My favorite shade of powder eye shadow is a gorgeous bronzy teal shade that makes my eyes look downright sparkly. The problem? The shadow's staying power stinks. I've tried everything to keep it in place - Urban Decay Potion primer, Mac Paints in Canvas...nothing works. Except this trick from NYC-based makeup artist Diana Manzanares: dip your makeup brush into a few drops of contact solution, then swipe it over the eye shadow and apply however you normally would. The sodium choloride (also known as salt) in the solution will make the powder extra moist thanks to salt's power to retain water.
I have no idea how Diana came up with this trick, but it's a good one. I use ReNu contact solution because that's what's in my medicine cabinet - but you can use whichever brand is handy.

Great trick. I can't wait to try it.
ReplyDeleteNeat idea :)
ReplyDeleteTell me more about this eye shadow!
ReplyDeleteDonell- the shadow is by Mac, and is a color called Woodwinked. It's a really warm gold that is so pretty! But for some reason, it usually doesn't stay on my lids without this contact solution trick.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad this trick worked out for you. :-)
