Everyday Bombshell

I slipped on a pair of tights today, for the first time this season.  I'm pretty sure my bare legs will not be seen again until April.  Tights are a tricky thing, don't you think? 



I experimented with a couple brands last year - ranging from Target to Express to Lane Bryant - but none of them really wowed me.  So I picked up a few pairs this week while returning a few items to Avenue.  And I gotta say...I think Avenue's tights are fantastic!  I have four requirements against which I measure tights.
  1. Length- At 6' tall, I need a pair that is long enough.  If the waistband doesn't come up over my navel, I'm just going to spend the whole day tugging at them. 
  2. Opacity - I like my tights dark black.  No light patches over the larger parts of my thighs or knees, please!  
  3. Soft and cozy - I don't want anything itchy against my skin.  
  4. Price - I'm not shelling out more than $10 for a pair of tights.  Period. 
Avenue was a winner on all accounts.  Length is perfect, the tights are very dark black, they feel nice and soft, and at 2 for $15 (plus another 30% off thanks to an in-store sale!) I felt good about stocking up. I bought basic black tights and a pair of sweater tights that will be superb once the snow starts flying in the next few weeks.  The selection of tights is much better in-store than online, but you certainly can find a few in their online store.

  1. Tights are always a big issue for me! I'm tall too and have long legs. Tights are a important part of my wardrobe for work, etc. I have much better luck with sheer hosiery (pantyhose). But with tights, I don't know how many brands I've tried but most of the time, there is something wrong with them, usually because they seem to be just a little short. (wore a pair yesterday with a skirt and was miserable pulling them up!) I don't mind lighter patches on my legs but like you, I refuse to pay a fortune for them. I have never tried Avenue's. Thanks for the tip!

  2. Forgot to mention: I just love that dress on you! For some reason, I just can't get myself to wear a dress with animal prints. But it looks lovely on you. And wow! I love that necklace! =)

  3. i am also VERY picky about tights. i stumbled upon Spanx tights when i was at the Nordstrom Rack a few weeks ago. i have to say... they are pretty phenomenal. i also got a pair of their reversible tights, which i haven't worn yet but i am definitely going to soon!

  4. One of my friends bought some reversible ones and she really liked them, since they give her options for dressing for work. But I think she said they were expensive.

  5. oh lordy, i'm on a never ending search for the perfect tights! i haven't tried avenue, so they'll be up next. :O) oh, and your dress is fabulous!
